The user of Lenovo T400 said that hibernate mode he make caused of the system to shutdown. His laptop mode is T400 2767-CTO with an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T9400 @ 2.53 GHz 2 GBs of Ram running Windows XP SP3.
Each time put it into Hibernate the system goes through what looks like hibernating, with hibernate progress bar but the system actually shutdown.
Technically this is a normal condition on T400. Hibernation saves the memory contents to a file on the hard drive and shuts down completely. And then, when the system reboots, the hibernation file is read and the contents are written to memory, putting your system back to the same state it was in before hibernating. However, if the suspend or sleep is the only state where the system doesn’t fully shut down. It can be a problem in the T400 laptop.
To resolve the hibernation problem on T400 you can try to rolling back the most current driver of ATI Radeon integrated graphics card (HD 3400). The driver was concomitantly updated to version 8.55.081010a-071474C-lenovo. After decided to rollback this graphic driver to the previous version of 8.503.2.2000, you should resolve T400 problem of system crash after hibernate mode.
