Fixing Conexant Smart Audio on Lenov ThinkPad T500

Posted by: admin In: Lenovo Laptops

After installing the new version of Conexant Audio Driver 4.92.5.0 on
the Lenovo ThinkPad T500 laptop, ones who’s running Windows Vista Ultimate 32
bit found that he’s getting an error each time starting SmartAudio
application from the control panel. There is SAIICpl pop windows
appear and said “One required file is not found! The SmartAudio II
application needs to be reinstalled”. He’s already tried uninstalling
and reinstalling the driver but the audio problem still exists.

The first thing you can do to resolve the SmartAudio problem on
ThinkPad T500 laptop, you need to know the model of your laptop and
what the operating system running is. If your Vista has SP2 installed,
you need to uninstall it first. That’s because SP2 is not fully
supported Conexant Audio Driver 4.92.5.0 for SmartAudio application
you use yet. In case your ThinkPad T500 model is 2081 CTO means you
can’t uninstall because the OS it has is Windows Vista SP2 integrated.
If so simply try to roll back to a previous version.

im using vista64, i copied C:\drivers\win\audio\SAII\X64\SETUP64.EXE to C:\drivers\win\audio\SAII\SAII
and all is well.

im assuming, if you’re using vista32, copy C:\drivers\win\audio\SAII\SETUP.EXE to C:\drivers\win\audio\SAII\SAII

it appears that’s the one required file not found :)

Well this is one heck of a “fix”.

Suggesting to simply “rollback” SP2 is like suggesting to simply “become a few years younger”. It’s pretty much a bare metal reinstall.

Not only do I get this error now, but my lappy no longer recognizing the microphone on my headset.

The above fix doesn’t work wiht 32 bits for me
