Backing Up data Using Rescue and Recovery on Thinkpad Laptop

Posted by: admin In: Lenovo Laptops

The one useful function of Rescue and Recovery feature at the Lenovo ThinkPad is backup the data. It was create backups folder and keep them hide on a different section of the HDD. The user won’t be able to see it just by going to the properties of the C: Drive. That’s way the user can only see, just said 211GB available on their hard drive that has 250GB capacity.

However, you still can see and manage backup data of Rescue and Recovery through the ThinkVantage folder. Here are the following:

Click Start
Click All Program
Click ThinkVantage or Lenovo Care
Choose Rescue and Recovery

Now you should see a menu bar at the top with 4 or 5 options. There you can manage the backup data such delete or get the backups and save them on a CD or on any network drives. For example, if you want to delete them to free up hard drive space of your ThinkPad, you can go to the “Advance” menu bar, and select “Delete Backups”.

Using a section of the HD to back-up is great, but what if the HD is failing….in more than one sector?

I used the DVD burn version after IE8 crashed my G530…haven’t rescued yet.

The default is 3 iterations of back-up to be saved on HD. I imagine that can become rather large.

thanks,
M
