Most users might love the new login screen on Vista OS. It was really attractive. But one of the users has bad experience with it. So he wants to get NT4 / Windows 2000 logon screen back. After re-enabled CTRL-ALT-DEL keys for login then he cannot seem to get the User Name and Password Logon back. Usually this problem comes to people who loved the simplicity of old NT4 / Windows 2000 interface that as well as security.
So if you want the User Name and Password Logon as NT4 / Windows 2000 screen back here’s the way you can try:
- At the Vista’s Start Menu Search Bar typing: secpol.msc and hit Enter. Now you should see the Local Security Policy editor is open.
- Navigate to Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options.
- Look for Interactive Logon: Hide last username on the Right Hand Side.
- Set it to Enabled and click Apply.
- Now you can close the window.
To Enable CTRL-ALT-DEL shortcut key combo before login:
- At the Vista’s Start Menu Search Bar typing:Type netplwiz and hit Enter. Now you should see the User Accounts dialog box is open.
- Select the Advanced tab and choose Secure logon.
Check require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
Click Apply and then reboot your computer.
After the computer is back on, now the old interface of NT4 / Windows 2000 with “USERNAME: [blank] PASSWORD: [blank]” is appear on your computer.
