Did you ever experience your HP dv9000 optical drive not working? And you’re already trying any method to fix it including reinstall the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers in Device Manager but didn’t have good results. - Click Start => All Programs
- Click Accessories => Run => Type regedit and click OK.
- In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:

- Click UpperFilters in the right pane.
- click Delete on the Edit menu.
- When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
- In the right pane, click LowerFilters.
- Click Delete on the Edit menu.
When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
- Exit Registry Editor and restart the computer.
After the HP dv9000 back on, now you can try to put any CD to check, is the driver can read it well.
