Someone was successful install Windows 7 X64 on HP Pavilion dv7 1183cl. Besides installing any drivers on his laptop all is fine except ProtectSmart. Download ProtectSmart from HP site and install this program on dv7 1183cl already but the Windows system can’t recognize it. An error message appears and said ProtectSmart application doesn’t support by hard drives.
To make the ProtectSmart application configure well on HP Pavilion dv7 1183cl that has Windows 7 X64, here are the following steps you can try to do:
1. Uninstall HP 3D DriveGuard
- Go to device manager and open System Devices
- Choose HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor. Uninstall the driver and
delete driver files.
2. Download and install SP42565
3. Now you’ve got the latest ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
version 3.10.2.1 driver which works on Windows 7 64-bit.
4. Looking for C:\Windows\System32\accelerometerST.exe for execution.
If it works properly, now you’ve get the ProtectSmart settings that make you can enable the drive. In case it doesn’t work means the
application did not install correctly, but here you need to know the driver installed already. So the next step you need to do is
installing SP39123 an older version for Windows XP. It’s useful to install the application only.
The final step is update driver HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor, to do this you can setup manually through the setup file you can get from C:\swsetup\SP42565\setup.exe.
After restarting the machine, now you should see there it was in control panel HP ProtectSmart application. It means now the HP
ProtectSmart is recognize well by Windows 7 64-bit at your HP Pavilion dv7 1183cl.
