Since the R2E didn’t came with ASUS preinstalled MC8775, ones
experience very difficult to find out where the store to buy it one
is. Even ASUS didn’t have a good answered. Getting MC8775 without ASUS
stamped can be risky. Just said if ones got unlocked MC8775 from eBay,
so how’s the way to do to make that device well running on ASUS R2E.
Firstly, you must know that unlocked MC8775 means, you will be able to
connect to any air network without limitation. And then, here are the
steps to make MC8775 well running and stamped installing on R2E ASUS:
Installed unlocked MC8775 in R2E, It can be vary but usually it was
recognized as an “HP hs2300 HSDPA Broadband Wireless Modem”
Installed “WWAN_Sierra_MC8775V_XP” software given by ASUS.
Here the software installation is fine but the MC8775 driver is not.
This software given by ASUS surely detects and installs properly only
ASUS stamped MC8775, but not the others. It can be vary, just said it
was recognized as an HP, so you need the drivers from HP website. If
you have MC8775 recognized as LENOVO get LENOVO drivers. So far away
it worked very well.
Finally, after HP install (or LENOVO or what else) you can change the
driver to a neutral one, here’s how to do:
Go to device manager and find out your modem.
Update Driver, and tell to choose in a list.
Choose “Sierra Wireless MC8775 HSDPA Modem”
After continue following the general steps, you should see it was
running well and nothing else about HP in your device manager.
