The Acer Aspire One user meets an audio problem issues in his laptop.
When listening to any music file through his Aspire One, he’s found
that music is skips and lags and it comes also at Youtube but an audio
listened well in other sites like purevolume.com. Watching movies on
Acer Aspire One with Quicktime is good without any audio issues. The
audio skipping and lag issue was found also while playing the games
such WoW, UT, and Fallout.
The problem of no listening audio of music files running at Aspire One
laptop seems like a codec issue probably a non-standard MP3 or OGG dll
that got overwrote the standard Windows one. An audio problem that
occurs at Aspire One laptops which have PIO mode is possibly comes
because of deactivated DMA mode.
First of all you need to reinstall the latest version of Aspire One
audio device driver from the manufacturer’s website here. And then
make the DMA available at your Acer Aspire One laptop using Device
Manager. Here’s the following:
Go to Device Manager => IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers => Secondary IDE Channel
Right click Properties => Advanced Settings => Device 0 => Transfer Mode.
Set to “DMA if available”. Click Ok and exit Device Manager.
Go into Device Manager again => IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers => Secondary
IDE Channel
Right click => Properties and select Scan for Hardware Changes. This
method has the same effect as the reboot.
Exit Device Manager
Now you should see an audio problem at your Acer Aspire One should be
fixed. Just for notice, the problem can be recreated easily for test
by setting the Transfer Mode to “PIO Only” in Device 0, Transfer Mode.
