Acer Aspire 5315 Overheating

Posted by: admin In: Acer

After found his Acer Aspire 5315 shutdown on its own, the one user checked his 5315 laptop and suggests it caused of overheating issue. As he know that the one popular solution to fix overheating on the computer is check it for dirt and dust in the vents then he’s clean those entire thing well. But he still gets the same problem.

While check the fan he’s see for a while the fan was triggered soon enough so that the temperature would cool off down to about 47C. But after a while he noticed the temperature was rising up and the fan wouldn’t start, so that it reached 99C and suddenly the machine shut down. So the question is what makes the fan not start after a while.

Because of thermal sensor is trigger a system shutdown from the BIOS, so in order to fix the fan not start after a while you’ll need to go into the BIOS and manage the fan setting there. In the case your Aspire 5315 BIOS didn’t have option to manage the fan; you need to flash the BIOS. Upgrading BIOS to the latest version should be solving the fan’s issue.

Bought the 5315 in Nov 2007 for my son. His usage of the notebook has progressed with games and other web-based interactive site. The notebook recently began shutting down. Very frustrating. But, happy to report the notebook is back to normal. After reading many posts about ACER and this notebook, this is what I performed:

Cleaned fan and heat-sink. Need to remove the fan and pulled the matted dust collection that partially clogged the pathway through the heat-sink. I also updated the ACER e-power management, BIOS and e-framework management.

The Fan Speed utility now measures 47 – 52 -C . Runs quieter and cooler.
